Job Description


Voted the #1 veterinarian in Chilliwack, Vedder Mountain Veterinary Clinic (located at 5434 Vedder Road, Chilliwack, BC) is looking to hire qualified Veterinary Technicians to join our team.

This is a full-time, permanent position at our clinic located in Chilliwack, BC.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals
  • Handle, restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery
  • Produce radiographs, and collect and analyze samples and perform other laboratory tests to assist in diagnosis of animal health problems
  • Assist the veterinarian with animals before, during and following surgery by preparing surgical equipment, inducing and monitoring anesthesia and cleaning up after surgery
  • Assist the veterinarian during physical examinations and other healthcare procedures
  • Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under direction of a veterinarian
  • Administer treatments as prescribed by a veterinarian
  • Provide wound and bandage care
  • Conduct specialized procedures such as animal identification
  • Educate and advise clients on animal health care including nutrition and home care
  • Assist in laboratory research
  • Perform routine animal dental procedures and assist veterinarians with animal dentistry
  • Maintain daily patient records on Avimark veterinary software
  • May perform a variety of office management and clerical duties.

Qualifications:

1. Completion of a two-year or longer animal health/veterinary technology college program is required.         Completion of a Veterinary medical college program is preferred. Registered Veterinary Technician           license is not required but will be considered an asset.
2. Minimum 1 year of work experience is required.
3. Strong English Communication skills required (reading, writing, listening, speaking).

Compensation: $21.00 per hour.

Work hours: 40 hours per week
