Position Summary: The Administrative Assistant is responsible for carrying out administrative activities that support the Department’s groups in the performance of their duties. Coordinate with the Planning department on file circulations as well as assist with endorsement requirements.

Customer Service
Respond to legal inquiries related to Caveats, Land Development and Infrastructure issues. Incumbent must be able to review Certificates of Title, Caveats, Agreements, etc. to determine if the documents are eligible for discharge and that all obligations are met prior to discharge. Must have a working knowledge of Alberta Land Titles procedures for registrations and discharges.

Collect and assemble materials for meetings, prepare agendas, and as required attend meetings for the purpose of taking accurate minutes, prepare minutes for distribution.
Possesses considerable knowledge of customary and formal meeting procedures and the purposes and uses of meeting reports.

NATURE OF WORK
This is technical insurance work in the underwriting of routine risks. Employees in this class review, evaluate, rate, and process applications for applicable insurance products. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reviews applications, renewals and/or revisions to existing policies for insurance to determine the nature and degree of routine risks.
Researches and obtains additional information on risk if required.
Determines if risk is acceptable, is acceptable with restrictions, or should be declined based on analysis and evaluation of all information pertinent to the risk. Risks to be declined must be referred to a staff member in a senior position.
Determines action required to improve risk and recommends restrictions to coverages or revisions to deductibles or premiums based on analysis of the risk.
Determines appropriate rates, applies applicable discounts and surcharges, and calculates premiums.
Processes new applications, renewals, revisions, cancellations, and quotes.
Answers inquiries orally and/or in writing and acts as a technical resource to co-workers, clients, and/or other employees on policy exclusions, wordings, coverages, and premiums.

NATURE OF WORK
This is technical insurance work in the underwriting of routine risks. Employees in this class review, evaluate, rate, and process applications for applicable insurance products. Underwriting decisions are governed by manuals, predetermined procedures and authority levels. Work is performed according to general direction where discretion and judgement are exercised.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Not all inclusive or applicable to all assignments.
Reviews applications, renewals and/or revisions to existing policies for insurance to determine the nature and degree of routine risks.
Researches and obtains additional information on risk if required.
Determines if risk is acceptable, is acceptable with restrictions, or should be declined based on analysis and evaluation of all information pertinent to the risk. Risks to be declined must be referred to a staff member in a senior position.
Determines action required to improve risk and recommends restrictions to coverages or revisions to deductibles or premiums based on analysis of the risk.
Determines appropriate rates, applies applicable discounts and surcharges, and calculates premiums.
Processes new applications, renewals, revisions, cancellations, and quotes.
Answers inquiries orally and/or in writing and acts as a technical resource to co-workers, clients, and/or other employees on policy exclusions, wordings, coverages, and premiums.
Develops correspondence to request information and to explain underwriting requirements and decisions.
Communicates with brokers as to the conditions, limitations, rates and premiums to apply.
Provides input into work processes, tools and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill
Knowledge of the coverages of applicable insurance products.
Knowledge of insurance theory.
Knowledge and skill of the rating procedures and the interpretation and application of established criteria and/or procedures to determine appropriate premiums, coverages, and deductibles for applicable insurance products.
Education and Experience
Completion of a CIP course OR a diploma/degree in business, social science or mathematics & applied science field of study and applicant required to enroll in a CIP course as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:

A demonstrated ability in covering breaking news in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated experience in creating engaging content for an online audience, including experience using SEO and UGC.
Advanced knowledge of photography, and video shooting and editing. Regular video production is a standard requirement in all of our newsrooms.
The ability to adhere to deadlines and take direction while contributing original story ideas. Excellent communication skills.
Strong knowledge of Photoshop, iMovie and Canadian Press style. Knowledge of B.C. history and issues a distinct asset
